Adaptive processing of catadioptric images using polarization imaging: towards a pola-catadioptric model
نویسندگان
چکیده
A nonparametric method to define a pixel neighborhood in cata-dioptric images is presented. The method is based on an accurate mod-eling of the mirror shape by mean of polarization imaging. Unlike most processing methods existing in the literature, this method is nonparametric and enables us to respect the catadioptric image's anamorphosis. The neighborhood is directly derived from the two polarization parameters: the angle and the degree of polarization. Regardless of the shape of the catadioptric sensor's mirror (including noncentral configurations), image processing techniques such as image derivation, edge detection, interest point detection, as well as image matching, can be efficiently performed. 1 Introduction Catadioptric sensors are systems consisting of convex mirror and conventional camera [charge coupled device (CCD) or complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor]. 1 The used mirrors can have several different convex shapes, namely, paraboloidal, spherical, hyperbolical, conical, ellipsoidal, or planar. They produce a hemi-spherical field of view.

Auto-Calibration and 3D Reconstruction with Non-Central Catadioptric Sensors using Polarization Imaging
Non-central catadioptric sensors became a mandatory effective tool in a broad range of applications and hence robust modeling and calibration for such sensors are required. One simple and efficient method is to model the catadioptric sensor by its catacaustics. Calibrating the sensor is equivalent to computing its catacaustics which fully geometrically describe the sensor. In this work, we cali...
متن کاملGeometric Properties of Central Catadioptric Line Images
It is highly desirable that an imaging system has a single effective viewpoint. Central catadioptric systems are imaging systems that use mirrors to enhance the field of view while keeping a unique center of projection. A general model for central catadioptric image formation has already been established. The present paper exploits this model to study the catadioptric projection of lines. The e...

A new efficient method of calibration for catadioptric sensors is presented in this paper. The method is based on an accurate measurement the three-dimensional parameters of the mirror by means of polarization imaging. While inserting a rotating polarizer between the camera and the mirror, the system is automatically calibrated without any calibration patterns. Moreover, this method permits mos...
متن کاملIssues on the Geometry of Central Catadioptric Image Formation
An imaging system with a single effective viewpoint is called a central projection system. The conventional perspective camera is an example of a central projection system. Systems using mirrors to enhance the field of view while keeping a unique center of projection are also examples of central projection systems. Perspective image formation can be described by a linear model with well known p...
متن کاملLine Matching across Catadioptric Images under Short-Baseline Motion
Line matching across catadioptric images using line intersections with focus on short baseline motion of the imaging system is proposed. The relationship between images of constructing lines of an intersection on unitary sphere is studied and angle consistency and antipodal consistency are introduced as two useful properties which can be employed to nd putative intersections correspondence and ...
